Not even a week goes by…

…with me in my new corp and I receive a request to take a merc contract. I am asked to “humble” a smack talking, annoying twit named Marshal Buckov.

Now it seems that the people in Pimebeka have been enduring this man’s inane babble for some time. He’s been seen taking people’s ore and loot.

So, he’s a pirate.

I am from time to time. What makes this so bad?

Well, he’s ticked off enough people that I was offered a large sum of isk, and I mean LARGE, to war dec this guy. The terms?

  • War dec his corp
  • Pop his pod and introduce his corpse to the vacuum of space
  • Keep all the loot
  • If a surrender fee is discussed, his popped pod is a requirement
  • War dec fees will be paid for the duration of the war

I’ve seen similar terms before, especially for a large corporation war dec. His corp has 7 people in it. Is he that bad?

Normally, if someone is simply engaging in piracy, I will leave them alone. Birds of a feather so to speak.

The inane smack talk, the lying about having won fights when he lost them is pushing it a bit. The worst was not honoring accepted 1 v 1 engagements. He would get help from a gang mate/corp mate. Blobbing is a fact in EVE, but not honoring a 1 on 1 duel is just not right.

Pirates as a whole in EVE are an honest bunch. I know that it sounds weird, but it’s a necessary thing. We have a job to do and sometimes the job itself is hard enough with the way targets sometimes behave. There is no need to offer them any more tools for them to use against us. There is an honor code. When you break that code, you make all pirates in EVE look bad and this just simply will not do.

Now, normally I will not take people on their word when they claim such actions. I have heard such claims before to get mercs to take contracts. Most merc groups do what I do, get an alt into the affected area and observe what is going on. Gather intel on the problem, intel on the ships being flown, combat tactics, etc. In this case, I didn’t need to do that. I trust the people who asked for my help. That and I personally watched such events unfold while attempting to engage in simple jet can piracy my self.

So I accepted the contract, Marshal Buckov Corp was war dec’ed.

I would like to say that it was a glorious war with lots of battles and many explosions, but that would simply not be the case.

Most of his corp spent the past 7 days offline. It was in fact not until today that Marshal himself even ventured online. Must have been that ban for his postings in the COAD discussion on the EVE forums that held him offline. Seems that more than one corp war dec’ed him and he got upset about it. He posted about it. He postd and posted to the point that he was banned for the spam posting that was his new full time job.

He finally undocked after much inane babble in local and after I had blocked him for a bit as I had grown weary of it. He was in a shuttle. Not a wonderful kill, but a kill none the less. And as I had hoped for, his pod was mine too.

His frozen corpse? Given as a gift to one of the many nice people in Pimebeka, specifically the first one that asked for it as there were many requests. They have endured much, it was the least I could do.

The contract terms had been filled and the war is now over, but I will tell you, this guy had better keep himself clean here or I may be asked to come to the aid of the people of Pimebeka again. The next time I would be willing to do it for far less isk.

I want to thank everyone in that system for your words of encouragement and your help in locating which station he was in. In all my time in EVE, I have never seen so many people, even from corps that are actively warring with each other, come together to help one person pop another person.

Let this be a lesson to all you smack talkers out there. People are tired of seeing that crappy drama in local. People are so tired of it that they will band together and hire mercs to go after your sorry hide.

Play nice, pirate honorably and keep the game fun. That’s all WE all ask.

Things are getting better

I have had time to play this past week.  We in TRAPS have been involved in a war for some time now against a fun target.  We have had our share of fights and inflicted much damage.  I will not go into details as it’s an ongoing operation.  All I will say is that I am having fun.

I have made some changes here.  In the header above, I have added one of the many forums signatures from Griefwatch.  So, if you are curious about my latest engagement, you can click, wonder no more.  The link will take you to my stats page for TRAPS.  As always, my total EVE career killboard is still up and running, thus the links in my older entries for kills still work.  I will be updating both with my kills and unlike many of my enemies, my losses.

“She was a good ship”…

She was a good ship. I fought many battles in her, however, she did not survive the “1v1″ that was promised. So, some advice, don’t believe that a war target will be honest, see the Carebear Playbook, rule number 2. I know this well, however, I just did not think. Yeah, it cost me the ship.

Pulse

Yeah, I should have known better. It’s all my fault, I was too trusting. I should have known better. You loose ships, it’s part of the game. Yet, I morn this ship as she has won many a battle for me. Rest in Peace, the “Pulse” is no more. You shall be avenged, the war continues.

Kainde Ahmeda, well, it goes on

So, after hearing about my “encounter” with Kainde and a few of his corp mates, in my last entry, my new corp’s ceo declared war on their corp. It’s only been a few days, but it’s been fun. We have had a few good fights. They like to follow the “carebear playbook“rules 1, 2 and the rule 5 option.

Has this worked for them? Well, here are their losses to date. I especially like this one. Are they helping us here?

Kainde finally made a showing, in a frigate and promptly lost his ship. He sat permadocked all night last night. He talks tough and then makes such a pitiful showing today. From what I can tell from the killboard, he and two of his corp mates may have tried to blob one of my corp mates. I have not had the chance to talk in game with my corp mate, so I am not sure, but the timing of Kainde, Meklarr and Grishak’s ships being popped kind of leads to that conclusion. Yeah, he’s tough, he comes out in a weak ship and brings friends. I guess he just can’t help himself, he has to follow rule 2 from the “carebear playbook“.

Anyway, I am looking forward to some more engagements with these guys. We have only seen a few of them, where are the rest of their corp mates?

More importantly, where is the ceo? Permadocked of course. He sits in his station while his corp mates continue to loose ships. Yeah, he’s a good ceo, he won’t come to the aid of his corp members.

I am really happy that I am not in his corp.

UPDATED, He’s not afk

Well, I guess my last post work up some people in Rakia Dwellers. Sesshomaru Sama or Sama as he is called, was NOT afk in Nereut. He says that he takes care of a baby in real life and he?s been manufacturing.Anyway, I challenged him to a 1 on 1. If he won, I would end the war. He accepted and we went at it. it was a close fight, he in his Vexor and me in my Ishkur. We were both into structure and he warped away. I got his drones.

Afterwards, we began to chat. He?s a good guy and I have to tip my hat to him for both his skills in combat and his skills in diplomacy. I won?t post the chat here, he asked me not to. He made a counter offer, well, agreed that one I suggested was fair. We talked and talked and in the end, this is where things are:

  • His corp has lost a lot more than 50 million isk.
  • Rabbit is a friend of the CEO and he won?t be ejected from the corp, even for just a day.
  • Rabbit is pissing off people in other corps and more war decs are coming.
  • Fireborn, even with his smack talking emails, has potential to be a good CEO.

So, I came up with another offer tha Sama thought was worth trying. They have until Monday to accept and comply with the terms of the offer. Below is a copy of the email I sent to Fireborn.

Sama?s diplomatic efforts

Well, I know that you have a mandate for your corp members to not speak with me and please do not be angry with Sama, he only wants what is best for your corp.

After agreeing to a 1 on 1, where if he won the war would be over, he didn?t win, but it was close, we began chatting. As we talked, he made a nice counter offer, or more accurately, I made a suggestion and he agreed that it was fair.

10 million isk and an apology from Rabbit in email and on my blog.

As we continued to chat, he impressed me a lot. He is an asset to your corp and you should really listen to him. He will help your corp grow strong and successful.

So, the new terms, because of Sama?s efforts:

A written apology from Rabbit in email and on my blog

We are in a cease fire until Monday. If you agree to the new terms and I see the apology from Rabbit before Monday, I will end the war.

It?s up to you.

We will have to see what Fireborn does and if Rabbit complies with the terms. We will also see if the corp members respect the cease fire. They didn?t before, but because of Sama willing to talk, I am willing to give them another chance.

UPDATE

Fireborn convoed me, he says that Rabbit will not apologize and as a result, is being kicked from the corp. Rabbit is out of their corp, they kept their end of the deal. I have kept mine. The war is over.

See what smack talk does, it gets you a war dec on your corp and gets you kicked.
